When to go

September–December · Flooding tide; also productive around low water on spring tides for ray

Garryvoe and neighbouring beaches on Ballycotton Bay have a strong tradition of match angling. The autumn run from September through December brings thornback ray, codling, whiting, dogfish, and flatfish inshore. Fish mackerel or fish-strip baits after dark for best results. Bass are also present and can be taken on lures from the surf.
