Rosscarbery is one of the most consistent mullet venues in West Cork. Large thick-lipped grey mullet patrol the estuary through summer, best approached with a long light rod, small float, and a tiny sliver of mackerel or fish strip presented near the surface. Bass are present and can be taken on lures or sandeel baits on the flooding tide. The estuary has produced notable gilthead bream, making it well worth a visit for specimen hunters.
